Widely regarded as the Turkish Oscars, the Golden Anchor Awards organized in yacht charter Turkey in Istanbul on the 12th of November have chosen the Cesme Marina as the best marina in the country. The owners, Camper and Nicholson were thrilled to receive the “Best Marina of the Year” Award, which was chosen based on a number of determining factors.
This year marks the 6th edition of the Golden Anchor Awards and among the winning categories they also have “Port and Marina Management” with subcategories like “Best Port Management and “Best Marina Management”. This targets marinas across the country that fulfill a series of requirements and add that little bit extra to the yacht charter customer. In the case of the Cesme Marina, they were awarded the honor of best marina in 2011 because of the high standards of their constructions, the use of latest technology and the best facilities, not to mention a special care to its customers.
The award is that more important especially since the marina has been in operation for less than a year. Among the competitors were important and older marina from yacht charter Turkey, such as Marin Turk Pendik, Milta Bodrum, Netsel Marmaris and Port Gocek.
The General Manager of the marina, Kemal Saatcioglu had this to say: “A great deal of attention has been given to the quality and detail in the marina’s construction, as well as the standards of service we offer to our customers, so we are very pleased that the efforts of Camper & Nicholsons Marinas and IC Holding has been acknowledged by this prestigious award. Cesme Marina has had a superb first year of operation and we continue to improve the facilities, including the construction of a breakwater extension and an increasing calendar of events including a new race program for the coming season. We are excited to welcome both new and returning customers to experience our marina.”
The event was organised under the auspices of the Turkish Republic Ministry of Transport and that’s why the Minister of Transportation, Maritime and Communications, Mr. Binali Yildirim was present at the event, together with other important faces in the yacht business such as Mr. Efthimios Mitropoulos, which happens to be the President of IMO (International Maritime Organisation).
