For many, Antalya is eponymous with a laid back all inclusive vacation where you lounge by the pool all day and roast in the sun. But this part of yacht charter Turkey is much more than exclusive hotels that offer everything on a silver platter, if you just take the time to explore it.
Located in the south of Turkey, yacht charter Antalya lies on a rocky plateau which connects the neighboring Toros Mountains overlooking the Mediterranean. There are famous and fabulous beaches that are known throughout the world which border the Bay of Antalya. These are lined with more 5-star hotels than you can shake a stick at.
Just 30 years ago this famous yacht charter resort was nothing than a sleepy Turkish town with some Roman ruins in the backdrop of the harbor, but now it’s a vibrant, visited town which draws in hoards of Europeans during the summer.
The best attractions in yacht charter Antalya are Hadrian’s Gate, the Yivli Minare, a 38m minaret which is considered the symbol of the town, the clock tower (Saat Kulesi) and the Iskele Mosque. There are ruins everywhere, sometimes predating the Roman occupation and some are in pretty good shape compared to other places in Europe so a trip around the neighboring region of the town would be worth it.
The best places in town for eating out are the walkways between the streets of Cumhuriyet Caddesi and Atatürk Caddesi which are absolutely packed with döner stands and other street food venues. This is the closest the Turks get to a food court and there is plenty of cheap, tasty food to be found here.
After the sun sets, Antalya comes to life as visitors take to the streets and to the hidden courtyards spread around the city like oases for people looking for discretion. If, on the contrary, you want to be seen and see others, then we might suggest you head out to the yacht harbor and the accompanying jetty where you can grab a cone of tasty ice cream.
Apart from sailing, sun bathing and other water related sports, yacht charter Antalya also offers the tourist land-based means of spending the time such as golf, hiking, camping and trips to the mountain tops.
